First, and foremost, this is a popcorn movie. It is escapist fare. It is exciting. It is fun. And, the special effects were extraordinary - it looks positively, absolutely like the real thing, which is why the CG guys make the big bucks. Where else can you escape into an alternate reality (getting away from your personal problems and end-of-the-week blahs) for only $10? It was great! You don't go to things like this for the great writing, the great plot, or the great acting. Everyone knows that. You go to movies like this because you know that it will be a visual roller coaster. Emmerich delivered, in spades. My wife and I had a great time. You will, too. Enjoy - and get the Large popcorn!
